I wasn’t feeling it yesterday. I wasn’t feeling it the day before either. Sometimes I’m just not feeling things and I always feel like shit about it. I should be an awesome person today and I’m not, what’s wrong with me?
Last night I had some alone time and decided to take advantage of it. Although I promised myself this quiet and relaxing time I still felt guilty. I felt lazy because I wasn’t doing something productive. I could have been writing a new blog, working on my paper due next Sunday, starting a new project… absolutely anything would be better than what I was doing.
When I started to really feel guilty I took out my laptop and started to write a post for my blog that didn’t even matter to me just for the sake of getting something up on the blog. How silly is that? I then shut my laptop and made a goal. I got really enthusiastic about this goal. “I’m going to binge-watch the entire season of my show tonight and nothing is going to stop me!” I whipped up some Mexican hot chocolate, grabbed a cookie, snuggled in my bed and pressed play. I was finished with my series by 10pm and went to sleep.
This morning I woke up feeling enthusiastic to write to you and tell you that I think you should make it a goal within the next week to binge-watch your favorite show on Netflix with hot chocolate so you can wake up the next day and be a badass.
Stay Merry and Bright!
I wish I didn’t have to say I forgot. However…I forgot day 22. Knowing me though I have done very well with Blogmas and this has trained me into coming up with blogging ideas a lot easier now. I think that three blogs a week will be really easy now compared to one everyday. I can do it!
Last night I did some last minute Christmas shopping down by the Malecon. There’s something I really love about shopping by myself for Christmas. I really love looking at every single thing I can, taking my time, and not feeling rushed. This was my first time shopping in Mexico alone though and I really enjoyed it, plus I got some great things for my loved ones! I came home to finish up some last minute ornament gifts and finished off the evening with Mexican hot chocolate and Merry Christmas Charlie Brown. We also ended up watching The Great American Baking Competition. Just a quite and lovely evening with my parents.
Today I ask you to take time to set some busy things aside to enjoy that hot chocolate with your family, open a good book, watch a Christmas film, and snuggle up with a blanket. Enjoy the smaller holiday goodness that we all love so much!
I am off now to enjoy some coffee, The Today Show, and read my book I’m into so much for the holidays (It’s getting really good, guys!)
Today has been cloudy and we are expected to have rain this evening, wouldn’t that be exciting for Mexico? It’s one of those Holiday days where you just want to snuggle up with a blanket, a warm drink, and a good book.
Today I made a warm winter drink that you would love if you’re a fan of hot apple cider! You steam together pineapple juice, cranberry juice, cinnamon, cloves, and orange slices. It’s refreshing and soothing all at once! At the store we also stopped by the bakery section for some yummy donas and coconut macaroons. I love anything with crema! It went very well with my warm drink!
I’ve also been on the hunt for a good Christmas book and found one I’ve been enjoying quite nicely. It’s called The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily. It is a really great and light read to hop into Christmas! Now to finish the evening with soup and Christmas films with the family!
What do you like to do on your lazy winter days?
I hope you all had a beautiful Sunday! Yesterday was the art show and I did fairly well with some sales so I didn’t walk away disappointed. Yesterday I missed having a blog so hoping to bring you two today. We had some good friends over for dinner and we made empanadas so I took the opportunity after a long day at the art show to be with my family, learn how to make empanadas, and be in good cheer! Sometimes you have to set things aside for the more important moments in life.
Today I thought I would share some great holiday inspiration that I gathered from Pinterest to get yourself in the best Christmas cheer since it’s the last Monday before CHRISTMAS! However, since I live in Mexico I wanted to share all of the things that inspire me this Christmas which is a lot of color, warmth, culture, and spice!
Follow me on Pinterest, username mariahcassandra, I’m probably the only girl that doesn’t have a wedding board.

I’ve always been a huge fan of making cards especially Christmas cards! I know how exciting it is to get cards in the mail so I like to share that joy with my loved ones! This is one of the main reasons why I’m obsessed with scrapbook paper. It takes me a lot to drag me out of the scrapbook paper section at the craft store, I’m so addicted to all of the amazing patterns! I wanted to share with you a few DIY Christmas cards that are super easy to make!
You will need
- Blank card paper. I use brown craft paper because I love the rustic look to all of my cards. You could always just use heavier paper and fold it but premade blank card paper is so convenient if you’re an avid card maker.
- Scrapbook paper. There’s a lot of really great small packs of holiday paper. You will want duel sided for one of the projects.
- Large hole punch. Mine is a 1″ and I think it works really well for most projects.
- 3D stickers
- Scissors or a paper cutter
- Thin black marker
- Letter stamps
Hanging Ornaments Card || This first card you will need to punch out different patterned circles and apply them on your card surface with 3D stickers. Scatter them around because they will look like hanging ornaments. Once they are applied you will draw a line going from the top of the card to each ornament and then add little loops to look like tiny bows!
Christmas Tree Card || This tree card is where having duel sided paper will come in handy. Draw and cut out two larger sized triangles, these need to be the same size. Figure out which one you would like as the base and apply it to the card base with 3D stickers. Take your second triangle, fold it in half and apply the fold down the middle of your first triangle with glue. This will create a fun and easy three dimensional card! I had a gold glitter star in my Christmas crafts and applied that on top with 3D stickers
Christmas Wreath Card || Last but not least we have a cute and girly Christmas wreath…it of course doesn’t have to be girly though depending on the scrapbook paper patterns you use! You will want to choose three or more patterns to punch out. Once you have punched your patterns draw a circle on your card base as a guideline. Glue on some circles around the circle you drew, slightly overlap them for more dimension. Take your remaining circles and apply them on top with 3D stickers, this will add great dimension to your wreath! When you are finished glue a little bow on top.
After all of my cards were finished I stamped “Warm Wishes” at the bottom. Since I’m in Mexico I thought that would be a proper message for my cards. I actually use paint instead of ink which is a little more difficult to work with at first but I enjoy the look of it much better…and you can use any color! I went with a red paint to match all three cards.
What Christmas cards have you made this year? I’m also thinking about New Years cards to send out to family!
My blog today is actually a vlog! The other day I posted a photo of me with makeup on and got a lot of comments so I was inspired to create a holiday makeup tutorial and well…it didn’t go as planned but at least I’m a little humorous and you get a sense of the girl behind the Seeking Wondrous Life blog 🙂
First I have to apologize that this blog is a day late…NO! I was having the worst uploading and internet problems and had to do to come up with a new blog idea last minute and of course that wasn’t loading correctly either. So here I am the morning after taking a last minute blog and trying to make it even better for you anyway…also, now you get two blogs today!
One of my Christmas dreams is to sit next to a fireplace in the snowy cabin singing Christmas carols and drinking hot chocolate, what a dream, right? Christmas music is definitely a great way to get into the holiday spirit and is something I always go to at the beginning of the holidays when my Christmas spirit is not there yet!
My favorite Christmas music is from some of my favorite alternative rock bands or traditional Christmas carols! Something with a some beat to dance to and something that I can sing my heart out to. Fearless Records has some of my favorite artists and always look forward to new songs each year…if you’re really into alternative rock music you would love the album Punk goes Christmas!
I also love holiday decorations and graphic artwork with Christmas music quotes on them! I would actually love a collection of Christmas carol lyrics around my home someday! I think it would be such a cute and different Christmas collection idea and really inspired to start it this year! You can find a lot of free printables online! I also love vintage Christmas music sheets…I think they are totally adorable for decoration too!

I have also started 12 days of Christmas on my Instagram where I will be singing a new Christmas song everyday until December 24th. Follow my singing Instagram for a new video everyday! I hope you enjoy these songs…the first one by the Natives I actually found this morning and completely obsessed! Please share with me some of your favorite Christmas songs!
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year! There’ll be parties for hosting, marshmallows for roasting, and caroling out in the snow!” Well, in Mexico there will be no caroling out in the snow but we know how to fiesta! Last night was the annual Christmas party of some of our dear friends so obviously I had to dress up for this Navidad Fiesta. It was so fun to be around my San Felipe family with great food, bocce ball, and the greatest gift exchange game I’ve ever experienced…I walked away with Bath and Body Work’s goods in the scent Be Joyful!
If you’re like me you probably enjoy getting all dressed up for holiday events! The glitter, the ugly sweaters, and all things wonderful to wear during the holidays. Sometimes you don’t want to go out and buy an expensive outfit though so that’s why I stick to something cute and creative to make myself! I want to share with you my festive outfit on a budget that you can do for your upcoming holiday parties too! Get creative with a few pesos in your pocket.
I made my tutu! If you don’t know how to make tutus you would be amazing to learn how easy it is to do and it’s perfect for fun festivities such as this! All you have to do is take strips of tulle and slip knot them onto thick ribbon to tie around your waist! Easy as uno, duos, tres! Tulle can be very inexpensive depending on where you go…in Mexico our fabric stores are incredibly cheap! This tutu probably took one yard of white, half a yard of green, and just a few stripes of the red and silver glitter.
There’s actually a funny story to the giant bow around my neck. I found it on the side of the road! We were driving and I yelled “Pull over! I need that!” I think it’s a giant bow that was on someone’s car that fell off. You can purchase something like this at the dollar store. Throw some ribbon into it and pair it with a simple shirt for a cute festive pop!
My hat is also a snapback…and since I’m embarrassing to be around I of course have to wear it backwards to look supa’ fly.
I am a true Virgo and love organization! I also love the holidays so I’m totally in love with my desk and work space right now. Although I wish I had more decor around it sometimes you need a simple space to work well. I recently purchased this adorable corkboard from Hobby Lobby and I’m obsessed with the cute print! It goes very well with my with my mexican desert room decor. I have been so excited to add calendars, goal sheets, and other decorations to my board.
Check out these amazing FREE printables for Christmas! by Stitch In Time. I really hope this talented artist comes out with new calendars come January for the new year because I love her designs and illustrations! I love the Santa design and decided to back it with cute black and white polka dot scrapbook paper! Mixing patterns is one of my favorite things to do when it comes to home décor. This calendar has really helped me keep organized with events and daily blogmas ideas.
On my desk I have my little Christmas tree, my favorite Bath and Body Work’s Twisted Peppermint candle, and I decided that my computer wallpaper needed some Christmas cheer as well. You can find many free desktop and phone backgrounds on pinterest that are fun and beautiful.
Grab some hot chocolate, listen to some great Christmas tunes, and lets start planning a great rest of the year!
